When people hear the word accounting, they usually think of numbers, spreadsheets, and maybe stress. And honestly, that’s not wrong—but it’s also not the full picture.
From my experience, accounting is really about understanding what’s happening inside a business.
Every sale, every expense, every decision—it all leaves a financial trail. Accounting is how we track that story.
As an accounting manager, I don’t just look at numbers. I ask:
- Are we earning enough?
- Where is our money going?
- Why is profit going down even if sales are increasing?
As a CPA in public practice, it becomes even more critical. Accounting is what allows businesses to:
- File correct taxes
- Respond to audits
- Avoid unnecessary penalties from the Bureau of Internal Revenue
So if I simplify it:
Accounting is the language that tells you how your business is really doing.
